Category: trash the dress

I have photographed quite a number of bumps, and what I love about each and every one of them is that they are all so different!

Today photographing M and M’s bump I realised how cute this little one was! I mean M is 36 weeks, and looks *amazing*!!! It was a great way to kick off the week, and I am really excited to meet their new bundle in a very few, short weeks! All the best guys, see you soon!

Monday I received a call from Suri Creations asking if I could do a fashion shoot with a very short time frame. Luckily I was going to be going to a fun shoot (something I like to do from time to time for me!) and I had a model and another photographer who were ready to go anyways.

We went to a wonderful, rustic creation with our model (Ryley is also a great emerging photographer), an amazing gown and the designers. It was all systems are go. It was such a fun afternoon and something I would really adore to do again. So if you are a business out there wanting some fashion shots that stand out be sure to give me a call!

This gown was hand made, completely. Suri Creations spin the fleece and then hand crochet the gown together. These are one off gowns, and something that certainly will see a bride stand out from the crowd. From a photographer point of view, they are such a flattering, elegant and unique dress to photograph. Also very practical for some different sort of fashion like shots. Oh how I loved it!!

Anyway, thought I would share a few of the images (and will update you once I know what image makes the magazine):

Saturday was overloaded with tenderness. As looking at this lovely couple that was what I got to witness. The tenderness between two people, isn’t it amazing? Wedding days are so very exciting and such a marvellous event to witness. There were a lot of chuckles during the ceremony and lots of fun through out the day. H looked stunning in this gorgeous gown, and I had to stop myself from staring at the bridesmaids funky red shoes (I will get around to sharing them soon!).
M and H, thank you for the opportunity of sharing your day with you. And for being you!! I hope you have a wonderful time away, and chat upon your return.

The light was all but gone when we were blown away with this sunset! Such an awesome location!

Thanks for the support and interest over the past week friends, I hope you all feel as though you have got something out of it. In ending this special – and fun – week I would like to share a video clip with you. This is a selection of images from the wedding that I photographed 7th February for J and S.

This is to give you all an indication of the start to end of a wedding session for me. Rather then a few of my personal images this is a bit more real I believe.

Happy Sunday :)

I have declared this to be “education week” my friends. Through out this coming week I would like to share some of the reasons why I do what I do. I will cover the following and more:

“But a 5×7 only cost $1 why do you charge $xx?”
“If I had a good camera I could take those photographs too”
“Why wall art, what is it?”
“Why should I pay more for a photographer, I can get it much cheaper down the road”
“You only have to own a camera and you are a successful photographer”

Why am I doing this I hear you all ask? I am doing this as I come across these questions from time to time and I have been wanting to educate you and potential clients about what is involved. Almost like an insight into the business of being a photographer. I don’t want to say *ever* that I have all the answers, I definitely have had to learn through some bad decisions!

I will kick this off tomorrow for you all, and hope that you come in daily to give me your feedback and opinions (and yep, each day I’ll share a new image!).
Happy weekend :)

I have returned from my 2 day workshop, and I have to say that I am all of the following at once:

*excited
*happy
*inspired
*exhausted
*positive
*exhausted
*overwhelmed
and
*EXHAUSTED*

I am exhausted, but you know that wonderful exhaustion that is so worth it? This is how I feel! I am busy reflecting on all that I heard and all that I have learnt. I have a lot of changes coming this way, please keep an eye on this blog and the website

The TTD offer is still open, and thanks to the 6 couples who have registered their interest! I am very excited and positive about the response. What if you miss out? Well, you can always book a TTD session with me. Now, wouldn’t that make a great anniversary present to you both?

I have had a few requests to show more of my 366 days of images, so here is one that I really liked myself:

Valentines Day is a special day for a lot of couples. But for D and L it will always be extra meaningful and memorable! V Day ‘08 they were engaged and V Day ‘09 saw their beautiful wedding day. The weather was a bit painful, but somehow we actually managed to get some lovely beach shots. We were so very fortunate to get the short time we did.
D and L have a wonderful life together and always remember what bought you to this place – true love!

*Just to let everyone know I am out of town from Tuesday 17 Feb until Friday 20th February. I am off to a photography workshop – can’t wait!!*

To see the devastation caused by the bush fires truly is heart wrenching. To witness so many people can loose their lives, loved ones, pets, belongings and also their faith in man kind. To know that some people may be responsible for such a tragedy really makes you feel heavy hearted. It is not right, not fair.
I have decided to follow the amazingly brilliant and kind offer by Kris Leigh (a few photographers are on board, so see who is near you). I am going to ask that my clients during the months of February and March donate their booking fee to the Australian Red Cross*. What you need to do is donate your $100 fee via the Secure Online Form and email me the electronic receipt and we can book your session in. This is a way that we can together help others and also have a beautiful session together.
Thanks in advance for the support.

Trash the Dress – Free session offer!
Something that I have wanted to do for some time is a “Trash the Dress” session. This can be hard to offer to clients as here in Bundaberg it is almost unheard of. What am I talking about I hear you say? Have a look at my all time favourite video online here: http://www.stillmotionblog.com/?p=139

I am looking for a couple that have recently been married (or maybe are engaged, or just in love!) and are happy to be my models for this shoot. It will be most likely held in March (whilst still warm) on a weekend, later in the afternoon for that lovely warm light. In return for their clothing and time they will receive a free booking fee and a 8*12 print (valued at $125). The bride will need to either wear her own gown or mine (sized 6/8). It will be great fun that’s guaranteed :) I am looking for an adventurous couple that are happy to do what I am envisioning.

Interested? Please email me at susan@susanwall.com.au Due to the needs of this shoot I will be asking for several couples to come and meet me and then I shall choose a couple that are most suitable. Please email me any questions you may have.

Take care blog readers, remember how fortunate we are to be where we are. Safe, loved and smiling.

*Does not include wedding bookings.
