January, 2009 Archives

Having a baby is something that happens all the time, all around the world. It is a natural event, something women were meant to do and have been doing for as long as humans have been here. But when it is your baby, your body and YOUR birth it is nothing short of a miracle.

You may remember I put a call out here, on my blog, for a beautiful couple to share their tender moments with me during their labour and birth. I was so fortunate I had 2 families agree to this. K and D agreed once going home after their maternity shoot and seeing my blog.

I got the call yesterday afternoon from an excited D to say that K’s waters had broken and to be on standby. Well, I didn’t sleep much last night. During the night K nicely dilated and I got a hurried call just after 7am to get up to the birthing suite as she was now ready to push! When I got there it was surreal, so calm and beautiful. At 7:58am lovely M came gently into the world – perfect as can be!!

Here are 2 images  I can share for now, I am waiting to run the rest past K and D; even though I have their permission. A clients privacy is very important to me. I do hope to share a video with you all in time however. I am so looking forward to going to the labour and birth with my other couple L and J – see you soon guys!

To D, K, D and baby M – I will never be able to thank you guys enough for the most amazing and beautiful experience. Much love x

Some of you may recognise N from her maternity shoot a few months back, she now has a beautiful little man to show us! N contacted me asking with her Dad and sister how I would feel about going to Hervey Bay to do a session for her Mum’s special birthday. It was absolutely my pleasure! After a weekend of on and off rain here in Bundaberg it was very nice to see some clearer weather at the Bay! These guys were so lovely, and a lot of fun to photograph. Here is a sneak peak for you all; N, B, M, B, J, K, P and L. I hope these make for some special memories of a very special time. I’ll be in touch soon with your gallery.

Today was the wedding of H and J. It was a very wet and miserable day – such a shame as their original beach location was dreamy! But all in all we were so excited when the rain broke just long enough for a few shots outdoors. It was such an honour to photograph H’s wedding. She has known me since I was a brand new baby (her Mum and my Mum being best of friends for many years!). H and J wishing you all the happiness, enjoy your sneak peak and chat soon x

{Are you planning a wedding? Or have you been married recently? Keep an eye on this space, in the coming days I have a fun, exciting and adventurous offer!! – sounds interesting doesn’t it? Be sure to come back soon!}

This little guy came into the world quickly and after meeting him today I am guessing it is because he just wants to know what is going on. N was very alert and active for his shoot. He is a lucky little man as he has the most beautiful family to dote over him. M, J and E thanks for sharing N with me today, enjoy your sneak peak – and chat soon x

G definitely is my little angel! She was more than happy to patiently pose for me while I set this shot up. One I had been imagining for a while now. I must get some new wings however, ones more suited to her.

#16

This is a little Maltese Shi Tzu that a client has just received. She saw on my blog how much M loves dogs and invited M for a cuddle :) M and G cried the whole way home…..and yeah, we are going to have another baby in the next few months…looking at getting a puppy for Miss M. She has begged for well over a year now, and to see how wonderful she was with this little guy – was beautiful!! Stay tunedx

9pm at night and I realised I hadn’t done my image for today. G was having a night swim with her visiting cousins, and I quickly snapped this.

#18

Some things are meant to be at times. Our visitors asked if we were interested in going to stroll through the local markets (not something we ever remember or think to do). Anyways, we did so. Don went in his little beach car, and decided to not follow me down the parking aisle I went, but one before. And as he did M saw some little puppies for sale. The exact puppy we were after. This little guy was so soft, timid and snuggled when she picked him up. She said “I fell in love in 3 seconds Mummy!”. So, he came home with us. 2 images for today, as I have to include both the girls in this excitement!

We had decided to call him JETT.

#20

After delivering an order to some clients at the beach we decided to show Jett the sand for the first time (puppy friendly beach). He got cold very quick, so we wrapped him in a towel for a little nap on the way home. Oh we are all very much in love!

Today was a trying one for my little G. She was tired, hot and emotional. Jett had his vaccinations today which has seen him feeling sleepy and sore. She is upset as he isn’t well.

Part II of my image a day for the month of January:

Today some friends came over for a play while their Mummy (my beautiful friend) had a day at work. It was such a fun day, with lots of giggles, swimming and an ice-block. Summer and friends are wonderful!

#9

Last year I took a photograph of M, that has still stood as one of my all time favourites of hers. Today we decided to do it similiar, though added a scarf – to compare how much she had grown. She is growing so fast, I am spinning!

#10

G decided she needed to take a step up in her puzzle collection (she loves them!). So, shopping with Daddy today she got a 500 pieced puzzle!! A shot of us all together, doing the puzzle (still unfinished on day #15!!).

#11

G and her new bike she got for Christmas, just gone. We all went to the new park today!!
All she wanted was a bike with a stand, you know “like the big girls have”. This bike is a 16” (she is about the size of an average 4 year old – though nearly 6), and they don’t come with stands. We got a stand separate and well was she beside herself to get it put on. When she shows friends her new “shiny” bike she says “see my stand” not “see my bike” lol she is the CUTEST!!!

#12

Today M wanted to play “beauty shops” so we set up a nice day spa in the lounge room! This included facials, hand masks and massages – not too hard to put up with really!

#13

My girls, happy to pose for me – and so beautifully too!

Cooking time today. On the menu we have: fairy cupcake bites and cinnamon crumble muffins!! Very yummy and very much fun to make!  :)

This morning I got to meet with the *most* gorgeous couple! We discussed the possibility of myself photographing their birth!!

L and J are such an awesome couple (with a cute baby bump to boot!). And I really hope (and pray!) that all going to plan I can photograph and witness what is one of the most amazing and beautiful events in a couples lives!

When J said to me over the phone that she had been keeping an image from a magazine of a baby just born (all goopy and all), I knew she and I were on the right track. L and J have given me permission to share the images with you all here on my blog, so be sure to keep checking in for I am sure what is going to be amazing!

To celebrate the start of a New Year and to help myself and the girls remember the Summer holidays, we are taking an image a day to make a book from. Here are the first week of images:
#1
Georgia was helping me with my 366 project, and I ended up getting this of her when she was chatting away to me :)

#2
Miranda was still feeling unwell today, so Georgia stepped in again. She wanted to dress up like a doll – make up and all please! Here is her doll face – she is the cutest!

#3
Miranda is so desperate for a puppy. This is “Sasha” who she really treats like a real dog! Sasha has a real bed, bowl and leach!

#4
The girls together, both feeling well again and happy to pose with my black backdrop from today’s client. I love how they are happy to love :)

#5
Miranda is a huge makeup fan, Georgia now and then has a bit on. Today I walked into Miranda’s room to see her doing Georgia’s makeup. A perfect reflection of their real lives together.

#6
Each day during the holidays the girls take it in turns to choose an activity for us to play. Today Miranda chose to set up a shop, which Georgia and I were happy to shop at! The fruit was beautiful, fresh and so, so cheap!!

#7
This actually wasn’t my first choice for today’s image, but I had to put it up as it was so special. Here is Georgia, by the pool on the phone to her cousin. Her and Zahara are so very close, and Georgia’s face really shows how much she loves her!

#7a
This was my other choice. Today Georgie chose to do board games. We had to play each game twice for some reason? There was Guess Who, Guess Where and Uno Attack. It was great fun!

I’ll be back with more images next week – it really is so wonderful to capture and share the everyday events that happen in our house.

The year of 2008, in images. Here is a video of most of the shots I took through the year:

First of all let me explain the Pepper or Coke title. When beautiful K, D and D came over yesterday I was asking little D if he thought the baby was a boy or a girl. He is pretty adamant of a baby sister :) But K let me know that D has names chosen out for his brother or sister. Them being Pepper or Coke….oh that is the cutest!!!
Here anyways are a few shots of the amazingly beautiful (and so photogenic!) K, with her baby to be :) I am so very excited about seeing if this baby is a girl or boy, but more so hearing if D gets his choice in names :) Thanks for a wonderful morning guys, and a great way to start 2009!
